<p>The SUBWAY® brand has reached the milestone opening of its 200th store in the Republic of Ireland with its latest store opening in the Monread Centre in Naas, Co. Kildare. Irish Rugby Star and SUBWAY® Famous Fan Tommy Bowe was on hand to officially open the brands latest store in Co. Kildare.</p><p>The new store opening will create five new jobs in the local community and will be operated by Naas based SUBWAY® franchisees, Tom and Barbara Ward.</p><p>The store, located on the Monread Road, will be the local business partners third SUBWAY® store in the locality, offering famous made-to-order Subs and flatbreads. Customers can choose from a variety of meats, vegetables and sauces. </p><p>Speaking about the opening of the SUBWAY® store in the Monread Centre, Naas, Barbara Ward said:</p><p>“We are very excited to be opening Ireland's 200th SUBWAY® store. It is ideally placed in a dynamic shopping area and will give busy shoppers a healthier option.” </p><p>Muriel O'Grady, Development Agent for the SUBWAY® brand in Ireland, commented:</p><p>“Ireland is a great success story for the SUBWAY® brand as evidenced by our strong growth over the past few years. In the midst of the recession we invested and grew our network and it is a great achievement to be opening the 200th SUBWAY® store in Ireland.” </p><p>“We are a strong team of independent entrepreneurs working collectively to grow our business by providing excellent food, service and value. As well as the service we provide to customers we are also supporting the economy wherever we can and in the past year alone the SUBWAY® brand used over 400,000 beef patties produced in Ireland and using 100% Irish beef sourced from certified quality assured farms. It's something we are immensely proud of and ensures that we serve the communities in Ireland in more ways than one,” said Muriel.</p><p>This milestone opening further illustrates the strength and consistent growth of the SUBWAY® brand, which recently announced ambitious plans to increase the number of SUBWAY® stores in Ireland by more than 180 over the next six years, creating up to 1,800 new jobs.</p><p>The SUBWAY® franchise model is a proven business with low start-up costs which makes it an ideal entry point for entrepreneurs. As the business has grown, so too has its positive contribution to the economy. Recently commissioned research from the independent consultants, Cebr, highlights the tangible contribution SUBWAY® stores make to Republic of Ireland economy in terms of spend, employment and output. Taking into account supply chain and employment, the brand's total annual Gross Value Added contribution (GVA) is €37.4 million. SUBWAY® stores are significant employers with 809 full time equivalent employees in the Republic of Ireland already.</p>
