<div class="page side-photo"> <article> <div class="image" style=" background-color:#fff; background-image:url(/uploads/56cadd6125628.jpg); "></div> <div class="container" style="background-color: #fff;"> <header style="font-family: ; color: #000;"> <h1>HASTINGS HOTELS CELEBRATES ULSTER FRY-DAY WITH LOCAL FOOD SUPPLIERS </h1> </header> <!-- /header --> <div class="main"> <p class="summary" style="color: #000;"></p> <p>NORTHERN Ireland’s leading collection of hotels celebrated <em>Ulster Fry-Day</em> today by treating its local food suppliers and a host of tourism industry representatives to breakfast and a cookery demonstration by leading chef Paula McIntyre at the Europa Hotel.</p><p>The event was part of Hastings Hotels’ festivities in support of Northern Ireland’s Year of Food & Drink 2016 and the hotel group wanted to celebrate the local producers it works with to provide the breakfasts in its six hotels and showcase the produce to representatives from the tourism industry and local media. </p><p>At the event, Paula McIntrye was joined by the Europa’s Executive Head Chef Adrian McDaid to treat the guests to a demonstration of some of her own breakfast recipes including Armagh Apple Potato Cakes and Fruit Slims on the Griddle before everyone tucked in to an Ulster Fry made completely with local produce by the fabulous team of chefs at the Europa Hotel. </p><p>Howard Hastings, Managing Director of Hastings Hotels said: “Every year we serve over 250,000 breakfasts made from the very best of local produce to ensure all our guests can enjoy a true taste of Northern Ireland. Breakfast is regarded as the most important meal of the day and at Hastings Hotels this is something we wholeheartedly agree with.</p><p>“As part of 2016 being Northern Ireland’s Year of Food and drink, January has been all about the breakfast so and it is great to see that one of Northern Ireland’s favourite breakfast’s is bring celebrated with the inaugural <em>Ulster Fry-Day. </em>We couldn’t think of a better way to mark the occasion than by celebrating with the local producers we work with to create the very best breakfasts for our guests every day of the year. </p><p>“We have developed a fantastic relationship with our local suppliers over the years and aim to showcase them at every occasion as we really believe in their produce, in fact we have even created the ‘Who Made My Breakfast’ booklet that is on the restaurant tables in all of our hotels so that guests can read our suppliers’ stories to find out more about the food they are eating,” Howard continued. </p><p>In attendance at today’s event were representatives from Hannans Meats from Moira, suppliers of award-winning Moyallan bacon; Carnbrooke Meats from Dromara, suppliers of Apple & Pork Sausages; Clements Free Range Eggs from Newtownards; Get Fresh Tomatoes from Drumbeg; Irwin’s Bakery from Portadown; Thompson’s Family Tea from Belfast; Farmview Dairies from Castlereagh and McCanns’ Armagh Apple Juice. </p><p>“We were also delighted to host a group of visiting chefs from Yorkshire, including Simon Wood the winner of MasterChef 2015, who are guests of Tourism Northern Ireland. They are in Northern Ireland to find out more about our wonderful food offering and it was a great opportunity for us to showcase some of the local produce we use in our breakfasts and introduce the chefs to the fantastic local suppliers we are lucky to work with,” Howard concluded.&nbsp;</p> </div> </div> </article> </div><!-- /page-->
