Not every meeting is necessary. When you get though the check list you'll have the justification you need to cancel at least half of your standing meetings. However, if a meeting is necessary, this checklist will keep you on track and give you the ammunition you need to make it productive!
- 1. Select the Time and Place - Pick a physical location that allows you and your team to be most productive. Do your best to do it in person
- 2. Determine the Total Cost of the Meeting - Multiply the hourly billing rates of the attendees by the length of the meeting.
- 3. Describe the Desired Outcome - What critical answers or ideas do you need from this meeting?
- 4. Identify The Conflict That Got the Team Here - Identify the Conflict That Got the Team Here (hint: healthy conflicts make for great meetings)
- Report Out - Share all the information you can before the meeting so everyone's prepared and you don't waste everyone's time.
- Check The Value, Then Schedule it - If the desired outcome is worth the amount of money you plan to spend on the meeting, then schedule it.
