Moraira is a small, upmarket coastal town in the north of the Alicante Region, the Marina Alta.
It is conveniently located between two major airports, Valencia and Alicante. Alicante's airport can be reached in an hour Valencia in an hour and a half. The easiest options to reach Moraira are by using local taxis or car rental services. There is also a regular shuttle service connecting all major coastal towns.
Moraira is well connected to other coastal resorts such as Calpe, Javea, Altea, and Dénia. The Balearic island and the Islands of Ibiza and Formentera can be reached via the Balearia ferries in Dénia.
- BY TAXI : A taxi should take around an hour and cost +/- 90€
This price may depend on your arrival time and luggage.
- BY PUBLIC TRANSFER : Benniconnect offers public shuttle with different stops in Moraira. They cost 25€/person and can be booked online
- BY PRIVATE TRANSFER : Benniconnect also offers private transfers for larger groups. They will drop you off directly at the property.
-BY CAR : There are a number of car rental companies at the Airport. We don't recommend one over the other but our advice is stick to the bigger companies. Many clients have had issues with extortionate extras and hidden fees with smaller "cheaper" companies.
- BY TAXI : A taxi should take around 1h20 min and cost +/- 130€
This price may depend on your arrival time and luggage.
- BY BUS : There is a bus from the Airport to Teulada or from Valencia center to Teulada and costs +/- 10€.

-BY CAR : Make sure you are taking the AP7 road after leaving VALENCIA and not the A7.
Moraira was originally a little fishermen village conquered by Moors (Moorish influences can still be seen in the local architecture and some area names, Alcazar, Benimeit
The Moors were later defeated by King Jaime I and Moraira became part of the Aragon realm. This historical event is celebrated every year during the Moors and Christians festival.
Throughout the 16th century, Moraira was frequently raided by pirates. King Felipe II built the fortified tower on Cap d'Or and the Castle as a defense system against these raids.
Moraira was still a quiet little village until it changed dramatically in the 70´s with the explosion of international tourism. New infrastructures and housing were built to accommodate tourists and much of the village's configuration was modified to build today's Marina.
Nowadays we can still see some of the original fishermen's houses around the bottom of the Calatayud road and calle La Mar.
This spectacular beach is not the most accessible beach in Moraira but it is worth the journey. Breathtaking scenery, dramatic cliffs, and crystal clear water are awaiting you. This beach is perfect if you want to escape the Moraira crowds and enjoy the beach away from built-up areas. The left end of the beach is an unofficial nudist beach so keep that in mind!
El Portet Beach is Moraira’s crown jewel and has been featured in numerous travel magazines. With soft sand and shallow turquoise water, this is the perfect place for families. You’ll find a little kayak and standup paddle rental at the far end of the beach ( open April – September, hourly rate +15- 20€). Feeling thirsty? You have 3 little beachfront bars serving refreshments all day.
This small stony beach is a hidden gem although we only recommend this Cala to adults. You can access this beach through a long flight of stairs that are not “child-friendly”. However, this is a snorkeller’s paradise with crystal clear water and rich marine life. The daredevils even can do a little bit of cliff jumping!
With soft sand and shallow water, this is the most “family-friendly” beach in Moraira but also the busiest! The little ones can play safely in the little stream that runs between the Barranc and the sea. They will also enjoy a playground, volleyball nets, shower and toilets as well as sunbed rentals. And if they feel hungry after a long day building sandcastles, you can grab a bite to eat at the beach bar El Castillo. If you are driving to La Ampolla there is free parking, but remember it gets
This beach is a bit of a hybrid: half soft sand, half rocks. This is a great compromise if you are traveling with children but still want to do some snorkeling. As this beach is also lesser known as Ampolla…it is often less busy! There is parking close by, as well as showers and WC and a good selection of restaurants nearby.
This is another small pebble beach in Moraira, ideal to discover the local marine life. There is limited parking available and a selection of quality restaurants nearby. Algas Bar, for example, is an emblematic cocktail bar enjoying premium views of Moraira.
There are no lifeguards or amenities.
