Cress Creek natural trail is located about 30 minutes outside of Rexburg in Ririe, Idaho. This trail has beautiful views and is great for hiking, walking, and running.
Oftentimes, people will spot deer, rabbits, moose, lizards, and birds on the trail. This trail is animal friendly and you can bring your dog on a wonderful hike. Cress Creek nature trail is known for its views and the great overlooks of scenery. Cress Creek overlooks the snake river and south fork.

One thing that makes this trail stand out from other trails is that it is great for all levels of hikers. This trail is kid friendly and family friendly. It is a 1.5 mile look and it is wheelchair friendly. The first half mile of the trail is paved. The trail is a loop, but you have the option to continue going up to make your hike more of a challenge. This trail is fantastic for pictures and there is a large parking lot that makes the hike very accessible.

The Rock Gym
The Rock Gym is indoor climbing in Rexburg, Idaho. This gym is located about 5 minutes away from the BYU-Idaho campus and is easy for students to access.
The Rock gym is open Monday-Saturday from 10AM-11PM. Student Rock Gym day passes are $12.99 each. If students want a membership, they only have to pay $62 a month and they can also purchase a semester pass for $199. There are also deals for friends, family, and plenty of equipment to rent.

The Rock Gym allows students to climb with their friends, roommates, or FHE groups any day of the week. There are lots of different walls and different levels of climbing. The great thing is that you can choose what you want to climb, and how long you want to climb. If you cant finish one wall, you have the opportunity to try out a different wall.
One thing people admire most about the Rock Gym is the staff. The staff is friendly, and the gym is a great atmosphere. The staff will teach you about different climbing techniques, how to climb, and how to tie a knot. They will give you quick instructions to be safe before you start climbing on your own.

The Rock Gym is a friendly and social place. There are lots of college kids that go to the gym on a daily basis. The Rock Gym gives students to meet new people and friends who have the same interests.
Some other things that the gym has are Yoga, CrossFit, and speakers for events. Yoga is held Monday-Saturday and there are plenty of teachers for the different classes. Some of the types of yoga taught at the gym are heated yoga, hot yoga, hot yin yoga, yoga basics, and heated yoga recovery. Yoga costs around $10-12 dollars, and there are membership options.

CrossFit is taught Monday-Saturday with experienced coaches. These coaches go through a routine and help people train to become stronger. They coach people through workout routines.
One of the events held at the Rock Gym is a mental health workshop. These workshops include a speaker talking about anxiety, shame and depression, mindfulness, relationships, self-love, and compassion. Classes are $15 and a licensed professional therapist teaches them.
Some benefits of rock climbing are that it increases strength, in your arms, legs, back, and core. Rock climbing burns lots of calories and improves balance. R Mountain
R mountain is a hiking trail located 20 miles from Rexburg and about a 15-20 minute drive. R mountain also means "Menan Butte," and is one of the most common hikes for locals and students in Rexburg. R mountain is an inactive volcano and there are two trail hikes that people can choose to hike.

R mountain is about a 30-45 minute hike. The hike is enjoyable, a quicker hike, and a moderate hike. The hike includes a few switchbacks, and when you get to the top there is a metal chain you can hold to help you hike. The hike can be steep at some points and it is straight-up most of the way. the hike is about 3.4 miles.

This hike is known to have lots of wildlife on the trail. Some animals that may be seen are deer, birds, snakes, rabbits, and lizards. The hike has signs along the way that tell you about the area and nature.
This drive is a short hike from Rexburg and it is not difficult to find the trailhead. The mountain can be easily spotted because there is an R on the side. There is a big parking lot at the bottom of the trail. This hike can be done during most seasons. Many people will go snowshoeing, hike the trail during the snow, or go during the warmer months. During the snow and summer, the trail can be slippery, There is ice and sand on the path.

Sand Dunes
The sand dunes are located in St Anothony, just 15 minutes outside of Rexburg. These sand dunes have hills and hills of beautiful sand. This is a popular destination for students, families, and friends to spend time together and enjoy the dunes. There are 10,000 acres of sand at these dunes.

One popular activity to do at the sand dunes is sledding. During the cold winter months, students come out to the dunes to go sledding with their friends. This can also be an excellent FHE group activity. The dunes offer plenty of hills to sled down. There are some huge hills and some mini hills. This is perfect for people of all levels.
You can rent sleds and snow equipment at the BYU-Idaho Outdoor Recreation Center. Local stores like Walmart and Broliums also offer sleds. People often gather together in huge groups to go sledding, take videos, and be with their friends. Sledding is a great opportunity to meet new people and socialize. The best part is, you can even bring your dog!

Civil Defense Caves
The civil defense caves are large tubes formed from lava. These caves are located 24 miles from Rexburg. When you get to the caves, they will be cold. When you are climbing into the cave, it may be a little rocky. Once you are in the cave, the floor is flat, and they are really easy to explore. The caves are dark and made up of rocks.

When you are planning on going to the civil defense caves, remember to bring a flashlight and dress warmly. There may be ice at the entrance to the caves. It is important to bring a vehicle that is great for off-roading. The road is bumpy and you may get mud on your car.

1. To get to the civil defense caves, hop on the Salem highway and go North 16.6 miles past the sand dunes.
2. On the side of the road past the sand dunes, there will be a sign on the right-hand side indicating that it is the road to the caves.
3. Drive on the road and three miles in there is a fork. Turn left. After one mile, you should reach the cave.

Ice caves
The ice caves are 28 miles from Rexburg and a great way to spend time in Rexburg during the warm summer months. The ice caves are open all year round and fun to explore. These caves used to be lava hot tubes but then became ice.

If you are going to the ice caves for the first time, it is important to dress very warmly. The caves are icy and can be cold inside. Remember to wear clothes that you are okay with getting dirty. It is important to bring a flashlight and wear snowshoes. The ice caves have tight spaces and it is not ideal for people who may be claustrophobic. Another thing that you should bring is warm gloves.

The ice caves have ice that can be 3 to 6 inches thick. There are walls of ice surrounding the entire cave. There is not a ton of room for standing up in the cave and you may need to crawl at some points. This cave is unique because it looks like a palace inside. If you are going to the cave, prepare to spend 3+ hours visiting.

Lava Hot Springs
Lava Hot Springs is located an hour and a half outside of Rexburg. This is a popular weekend activity for students during the winter or summer.

Lava Hot springs have hot pools, a swimming pool, and a water park. The hot pools are open year-round and range from 102 to 112 degrees. There are different pools that have different temperatures. The hot pools are open Monday-Sunday and cost $8 to $10 for college students. The hot springs resort provides dressing rooms, towel rentals, locker rentals, and swimsuit rentals.

Lava hot springs have an indoor pool and an outdoor pool that is open during the summer months. The indoor pool is open during the summer months and costs $7. The outdoor pool opens up at the end of May. It is a huge pool with clear water and a water slide. There are also diving platforms and lifeguards.

LaBelle Ice Palace
LaBelle Ice Palace is located in Rigby, Idaho. This is about 10 minutes outside of Rexburg Idaho. During the months of December to February, they have a beautiful ice palace set up. Student passes are $15 and groups of 5 or more get a discount. The ice palace is open to people of all ages.

The palace is completely made of ice and there is plenty to see. The palace has rooms, slides, steps, and a great space to walk through. The palace is completely covered in lights and everyone has a smile on their face.
Not only is there an ice palace, but there are horse rides and winter characters! A sleigh ride only costs $5-7 more than your cost. This is perfect if you would like to relax and enjoy the views. The resort also offers sledding.

The Grand Tetons are located an hour and 45 minutes outside of Rexburg. The Tetons have some of the prettiest views and hikes. This makes for a great day trip with friends on the weekend.

If you visit these beautiful mountains, you may see animals such as moose, deer, and more. It is the perfect place to take a scenic drive and look at all the mountains. The Tetons are the perfect place to take pictures of the views. People often stop to look at the mountains and check out the scenery.

Darby wind caves
The Darby wind caves are a great hike to do on a Saturday afternoon. These caves are located about an hour out of Rexburg. The hike is a longer hike and it is about a 6-mile hike round trip. It takes most people around 4 hours to complete.
When you start the hike, it is a nice walk through the woods. The hike slowly starts to incline and gets harder throughout the hike. This hike is beautiful and overlooks the valley.About halfway through the hike, you can spot the wind cave from a few miles away.There are some rocky sections on the hike and at the end of the hike, you will reach switchbacks.

The most rewarding part of the hike is that you reach a waterfall at the end. At the end of the hike, there is a cool cave you can climb in and explore. The cave is dark and gets tinier and tinier as you explore. Makes sure to be careful, the cave can be a little slippery.
This hike is the perfect thing to do on a Saturday afternoon. It is a great place to pack a lunch and have a picnic. When you are driving to the trailhead, you will reach a 3-mile dirt road. If you are planning on going on the hike, pay attention to the weather and pick the perfect day to go.
