Reinvention

During 35 years in business you get the chance to reinvent yourself and what you do a few times, and that’s exactly what Guy Souliere, Owner of Guytel, has done! In the early years it was doing repairs of phones and answering machines, then into the retail field, then selling to small and medium business, then to the federal government.

As Guytel moves forward, a new Co-Owner has joined the team, Ludovic Viger, and he is both capable and eager to maintain Guytel’s tried and tested keys to success, while bringing a fresh perspective and sound business management experience to the table.

Guido and sweet appreciation!

30 years ago nobody wanted to fix phones, it was thought of as not worth the trouble, and yet Guy was into fixing anything from early on. To illustrate the point, one day a gentleman, named Guido, came into his store looking for help in fixing his close companion, his Walkman, Grandfather of the Ipod that plays cassettes, (to save you younger folks having to look up the term).

Anyways, Guy solved the problem for a grateful Guido, and to this day he will come in once in a while to Guytel’s location in Ottawa with Donuts of appreciation. Pretty sweet!

Custom solutions for any need – Going above and beyond!

In a bit more recent times, an honorably serving minister from the Federal Government, who was also quadriplegic, was looking for software that would help him with his telephonic needs, and Guy took the time and care to build a Centrex (Service) solution and provide it at a low cost. This is one of many examples of Guy and his company going above and beyond for the customer.

When word of mouth is all you need...

Guy is a big believer in the most authentic form of selling there is, a satisfied customer referring business to his company, no conventional ‘selling’ required. He and his company are local, here, and own the property – customers have the unique opportunity to come in store to talk with him and his team check out physical products or ask questions about their own products. Where else would you want to go for your telecom needs, to a supplier out of town – or the cold ocean of EBay etc.? It’s no wonder that Guytel has been proudly serving the Federal government for years. He stays ahead of the trends, and adapts when needed.

The Road ahead

Guy and Ludovic talk about GuyTel becoming a trusted hub for people to connect to the Government; after all he is trusted in doing his due diligence with suppliers. With GuyTel’s philosophy of staying ahead of trends and adapting with the times, the reception towers, the telecom satellites and one’s imagination are the limit! We couldn’t have done it without our team, our suppliers, and all of our valued customers. Here’s to the next 35 years in our shared and exciting journey!
