This program features a curriculum of 3 Levels of 4 Week Courses that include Evaluations, Progressions, IQ Quizzes, and Intensive Sessions to get the player to skill mastery and onto the next level of their development. Note: This document covers the Level 1 Youth progressions only.
Lonestar DFW uses on-site training sessions that are scheduled with the player after the initial evaluation.

Let me introduce myself, I'm Coach Erik Peterman, here are some highlights of my background in coaching baseball, my passion is developing players and their skills!
Coach Peterman was born and raised in Grand Prairie, Texas. While at Grand Prairie High School he played baseball, basketball, and golf. He received a full baseball scholarship to the University of Indianapolis where he was a three-year starter for the Greyhounds and graduated with a degree in Sports Administration. During his time at UINDY he received awards including; two time GLVC player of the week, two time GLVC All- Conference 2nd baseman, 2003 Regional 2nd baseman. He also holds an NCAA All Divisions record for consecutive doubles in a single game with five. After finishing his playing career, Coach Peterman went on to serve as an assistant coach at UINDY for two years while earning his MBA.
Coach Peterman moved back to Texas in 2006 to pursue his own business venture. After selling his company he returned back to his main passion of coaching. He coached baseball, football, golf, and served as an Assistant Principal in Grand Prairie ISD from 2009-2015. He went on to coach baseball and football at Arlington Heights High School in Fort Worth from 2015-2018. Then from 2018-2022 was the Head Baseball Coach at Woodrow Wilson High School.
Coach Peterman is married to Tiffany Peterman who serves as an Assistant Principal in Midlothian ISD. They have three children, Easton (14), Evie (11), and Ella (2). Erik enjoys coaching Easton and Evie’s travel teams in his free time.
Coach Peterman believes that baseball is a game that teaches players how to handle and overcome adversity. His aspiration is to develop well rounded athletes that acquire skills in character, mental toughness, resilience, and work ethic for success on and off the field.
During this course, the hitter will learn to have a strong foundation for hitting the baseball consistently and effectively. The hitter will be taught the ideal contact points and optimal launch angle targets. During the training, the hitter will develop sound techniques to grow and eventually move on to the second level of our training. In order to achieve the success necessary for advancement, the hitter should meet the following criteria:
- Be able to strike the baseball on the barrel at a consistent rate.
- Have a strong base to assist in driving the baseball.
- Understand the various drill and skill necessary to develop hitting techniques.
- Have the ability to hit the ball effectively to both sides of the plate.
- Understand the strike zone for a hitter.
Week 1 (2 Sessions)
Session 1:
- Rapsodo Evaluation.
- 4 rounds of 5.
- 2 rounds of tee.
- 2 rounds of front toss.
- Post hitting evaluation.
Session 2:
- Introduce target contact points for hitters.
- Introduce one hand drills (top and bottom hand)
- Introduce desired launch angle targets.
Week 2 (2 Sessions)
Session 1:
- One handers.
- Tee contact points.
- Outside contact points.
Session 2:
- 4 rounds of 5.
- Outside focus.
- 2 rounds of tee.
- 2 rounds of front toss.
Week 3 (2 Sessions)
Session 1:
- Inside contact points.
- One handers.
- Leg and hip drive drills.
- Balance drills.
Session 2:
- Rapsodo session.
- 4 rounds of 5.
- Inside focus.
- Working on staying inside ball.
- Backspin to desired launch angle and target.
Week 4 (2 Sessions)
Session 1:
- One hand working inside and outside.
- Front toss inside and outside.
- Live batting practice from coach.
- Work backspin to desired locations.
Session 2:
- Rapsodo assessment.
- 4 rounds of 5.
- 2 rounds of tee.
- 2 rounds of front toss.
- Measure exit velocity, launch angle, distance.
- Final assessment to determine advancement.
There are really 2 options for Next Steps:
