Get some stuff out of your head and into a notebook, on bits of paper you rip up afterwards, or as in the background picture on a turned off computer (perhaps it is magic?)

It doesn't matter what you write. Writing "I hate this and your stupid self care book Erin Rodgers" 25 times is totally fine. It's the doing that's important.

Writing the story of your experience can also be helpful. Don't get me wrong, for many folks it'll likely be kind of unpleasant to shitty. This is likely a thing to do when things don't feel like an active garbage fire. But, studies have found that writing down the story of traumatic events has amazing benefits.

No one ever has to read what you've written. It's not about creating something for an audience. Instead, it's more about putting the jagged pieces away so your brain is picking them up less. The story is the safe box on the top shelf. It's still there, but it's not strewn all over.
