3 TIPS ON HOW TO SING HIGH NOTES

All singers want to be able to sing high notes while sustaining them also! So here are three quick tips to sing high notes easier.

1. Let the extra air go

  • Too much air flow through the cords causes lack of closure. In order to breath our cords must come apart, however, when we sing we want closure... So getting rid of the extra air (super breathy) will help clean out the singers head voice and this make the high notes easier.

2. Sing looking fat (but think thin in your voice)

  • To go off of what tip 1 said about extra air, breathing from our diaphragm (pushing the tummy out when inhaling) and thinning out the voice while going up the scale. (Narrowing the mouth rather than being wide and splattered) this will create a cleaner tone in the voice and allow easy access to gain higher notes.

3. Use the bottom of your voice to get to the top

  • Vocal fry into a clean heady voice on an ew or a woah... The vocal fry vibrates the cords into a clean light connection allowing the voice to easily sneak up the scale.. This is also a wonderful therapy for the voice if there has been damage in the cords.

Using these small tips will help those high notes come faster to your range. Make sure to allow your voice to figure it out and do not strain or over push to the top.
